Is My Employer's Sandwich Policy Legal? Seeking Advice on Holiday Pay Deductions

soumya553@yahoo.in
My employer doesn't pay for Sundays and holidays and still applies the sandwich policy. For the month of November, we have 8 holidays (4 for Diwali and 4 Sundays). They first reduced this to 30-8 = 22 days and removed the per-day salary, denoted as x. I came 2 days late from Diwali vacation, and they again reduced the 6 days (including the 6 days leave) from the 22 days - 6 = 16 and gave me the salary 16x. Basically, they don't pay for holidays and still deduct them as paid leave if you take any leave.

Can you suggest a legal website where I can get legal proof of this calculation?

I assume you are from Mumbai. You can get the legal proof of it in the act that applies to your organization. Please share the nature of the business of your employer so that we can help you with the related act.
