Employee Took Money from Company Account: Should We Provide a Receipt for Repayment?

sudhanandand
Dear all,

One of our employees has taken an amount of Rs. XXXX from our account. Upon verification, we found that he did take the amount, and he has also accepted to repay the same. He has asked for a receipt for that amount. Should we give him a receipt? If so, please provide the receipt format to issue to the employee.

Please clarify your query.

Does he want a receipt for the amount when he pays back to you?

What was the nature of the advance? Was it for business use by the company or a personal loan? Giving a cash receipt when amounts are paid back or settled is a normal procedure and can be done.

This is not advanced. He took an amount from our bank account using a cheque and was finally caught and paid back the money. We have not taken any disciplinary action against him since he has been working for many years and this was the first incident. He needs the receipt for the money he repaid.
