How Should We Compensate Employees Working Extra Days at a Construction Site?

neil-blue
We are a mechanical engineering company based in Pune, Maharashtra. A couple of our employees have been recently deployed at a construction site where they are required to work six days a week, whereas we operate as a five-day working company. Their deployments are mid to long term.

Compensation for Additional Workdays

We are now required to provide some compensation for their Saturday, Sunday, and holiday work. We are considering either giving them compensatory offs (as per our office policy, comp offs cannot be encashed or carried forward to the next year) or providing them with monetary compensation for those additional days.

We would appreciate your suggestions on the possible options.

Thank you.

Dear Neil,

Any work arrangement exceeding 9/48 hours PD/PW respectively qualifies for overtime. When working on weekly off days or paid holidays, it is preferable to provide compensatory time off rather than monetary compensation.
