Can I claim the expenses of maternity if the delivery is done in private hospital?

If you covered under ESIC you can claim Medical expenses or produce baby DOB certificate to ESIC local office get Rs 5000/- from ESIC .

the employees usually make this mistake, as they need a referral first to avail private hospital choice, and in most cases the ESIC allows it, and directly pay the hospital expenses to referred hospital also. but it should be referred by ESIC or your panel doctor on case merits
if ESIC is not informed in advance, then a lengthy procedure to submit the claim to AMO and getting reimbursement / verification by the attending doctor would be on way
