Telangana Elections: Is It Fair to Ask Employees to Work on Their Day Off to Compensate for a Holiday?

General Elections to Telangana State will be conducted on 7th December 2018. As per the directions of the Labour Department, we declared a holiday on that day. Can we ask our workforce to work on their forthcoming weekly-off to compensate for the same?

Holiday on polling date is indeed a 'paid holiday' in addition to your normal weekly off and other declared holidays. You cannot ask your employees to work to compensate for this declared holiday.
