Eligibility for Revised Pension under EPF/EPS Act
As per the Supreme Court's orders, employees who receive a pension under the EPF/EPS Act and have retired upon reaching the age of superannuation are eligible to apply to the local RPFC for claiming a revised pension.
Challenges in Obtaining Form 3 A
The RPFC I met last week required me to provide copies of Form 3 A from my previous employers for the period from 1995 to September 30, 2008, which is when I retired at the age of 58. However, out of the four establishments where I worked between 1995 and 2008, one is now defunct, and the other two former employers are unable to locate Form 3 A, as these documents were disposed of after 3-4 years. When I requested the RPFC to refer to Form 3 A in their office for the relevant period to calculate the arrears (part of the EPF already settled) and advise on the enhanced pension, they also expressed their inability to find such documents. They explained that keeping records older than three years would require extensive storage space, and thus insisted I obtain them from previous employers.
Current Situation and Request for Guidance
I am at a loss on how to proceed. I only have some random payslips from previous employers and the relevant EPF/EPS numbers. It is unclear whether I need to obtain Form 3 A from all previous employers, as I have been employed and covered under the pension scheme since 1976. There is no clarity on this matter.
Please offer your expert guidance or solutions in this situation.
Thanks,
