Facing Three Months Without Pay: Should We Involve the Labor Department or Take Another Step?

I am working as an Operations Manager for one of the IT startups. I handle HR, Admin, and Operations here.

Currently, management (owners of the company) is facing some financial issues. Our salaries are delayed by three months, and we have been working without pay for this period. What should I do about it? Should we go to the labor department? Also, being from management, what role should I play here?

Frank discussion with higher management about the crisis will help you understand whether the crisis is real or just an excuse to delay payments. You should also inquire about the company's current orders and their payment status to creditors. The prospects of cash flow becoming normal can be determined by discussing and consulting with the staff in the finance department. Ultimately, a decision can be made on whether to accept a delay in the hope of recovery or to escalate the issue to the Labour department as per the workers' recommendations.
