Sharma Raju R
What if an employee files a case of regular employment under the 240-day act with other employees and commits suicide while the decision is pending? Do we need to notify his family members or the union leader before removing his name from the group?

In short, your question is about the continuation of a pending collective industrial dispute raised on behalf of a group of workmen under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, in respect of a workman who dies during its pendency. Whether it is a collective dispute or an individual dispute, the death of a workman after its institution vests the right to continue the dispute in his legal heirs. What they have to do is to get themselves impleaded in the pending dispute. In case the award or the judgment of the case favors the claim of the deceased workman, only the monetary compensation, if any, arising out of the final orders becomes payable to the impleaded legal heir of the deceased workman.
