Is the Masters Diploma in Industrial Psychology Worth It? Seeking Insights and Experiences

jigar_79
Hello,

I am seeking to enroll for the "Masters Diploma in Industrial Psychology, OB and HRD" course from Salahkaar Consultants, which is a six-month distance learning course. The course costs close to INR 25k. Can someone guide me with its pros and cons (if any) and whether this course has its significance and value in the industry? I shall be glad if anyone who has done or is doing this course could share their experiences.

Thanks in advance,
Jigar

Hi Lalit,

The course content for "Masters Diploma in Industrial Psychology, OB, and HRD" from Salahkaar Consultants will comprise the following segments (Modules):

MODULE-3: Organization Development

Also, the link mentioned by you does not seem to work. What do you have to say about the course content and whether I should enroll in the same or not?

Hi Jigar,

The course content seems good, but the fees charged are slightly on the higher side. I am attaching the syllabus for Advanced Industrial Psychology, which is a part of the MBA-HRM curriculum in some North Indian universities. Hope it helps you in making the right decision.

Regards,
Sujeesha.

Hi,

It is of utmost importance for you to research the credentials of this training course, even though the course structure looks good. The value that this course will add to you (considering the recognition of the certification) is questionable.

Dear Colleagues,

Thanks for your views and opinions. However, my questions are yet unanswered.

1. Will this course be of any help to someone considering that he/she does not have a Full-Time or Part-Time MBA?
2. Is the course fee of Rs. 24,000/- justified since it seems to be on the higher side?
3. Will this Diploma carry weightage in an organization?
4. Does this course have any recognition in the industry, although they have mentioned that it is recognized by IAAP?
5. Finally, do you think I should opt for this course?

Awaiting your valuable response.

Thanks & Regards,
Jigar

Hello Seniors,

There have been 426 views, but only 3-4 relevant replies. Please advise, as this is a career-based decision pending.

Hi Shweta,

Thanks for your response. In fact, I too was thinking along the same lines that the course won't be of much value on the resume, but I thought of seeking the opinions of other members here. Also, the strange thing is that the course fees are much higher than some university and institute-level PG Diploma programs that I was able to find.

Seriously speaking, I'm discouraged by the fact that even after 500+ views, no seniors or other professionals have given their advice on such a relevant topic, wherein almost every consultant these days is coming up with their own certifications. This could have been an excellent discussion, considering that there are several professionals in HR who often think of pursuing courses and certifications like these.

However, I think the decision can be made now since no one seems interested in this topic.

Thanks & Regards,
Jigar

I don't think of enrolling for this course considering:
- fees (too high and close to ₹21,000/- ) are not justifiable
- course recognition within the industry perspective is low
- there is no affiliation of this course/consultant with an authority/institution except for the fact that they state that it is recognized by IIAP, which does not count to be of much relevance in the Indian context.

Moreover, I have received multiple emails from their side, each one quoting different fee structures for this course. When asked, they said they were revamping the fee structure and details, and the mails that went out were by mistake :)

This sounds weird...

Hi,

I went through your post and was wondering if you pursued that Masters in Industrial Psychology for 9 months? I am interested in it but was just wondering about its recognition. Also, is it a correspondence course? I am a communication and soft skills trainer. I would like to do a course like this but was wondering if it was worth it. Do let me know. Looking forward to a reply from you.

Mr. Jigar,

I think you should not go for this course. I am not able to find your qualification. If you are not an MBA (HR), then you should go for it. You can pursue MBA (HR) courses.
