Navigating a New Job Offer While Pregnant: Should We Inform the Employer Now?

bhuvan-kumar
Hi all, my wife works for XXXXX company and has resigned as she has received an offer from DELLLLLLL company. Now, the concern is she has requested early release after serving a one-month notice period; fortunately/unfortunately, she has been relieved. She has to stay idle for one month before joining the new company.

Currently, she is at home and has just discovered that she is 4 weeks pregnant. She was supposed to start at DELLLLLL company in 13 days. Will the new company, DELLLLL, accept this? Do we need to inform them now or after she joins?

Will her offer still be valid, and will she be eligible for maternity benefits in the new company?

Please guide us. We can't ignore this nature's gift, and at the same time, we can't overlook the dream job offer.

Thanks, and we eagerly await your guidance.

Best regards, Kumar B

Dear colleague,

If your wife joins a new organization at this time when she is pregnant, she will not be eligible for paid maternity leave/benefits. It is better, even before joining, to approach the organization and discuss the situation to work out a mutually advantageous solution.
