24/7 Plant Operations: How Do Leave and Week Off Rules Apply in a Factory Setting?

I am looking for information on rules for leave and week off for employees working in a plant that operates round the clock. Are there separate week off rules for an institution that operates for 24 hours, especially in a factory or a plant setup? Is there something like an 8-day workweek and a 2-day off rule mentioned under the labor act?

I would like to request you to go through Chapter IV comprising sections 51 to 66 relating to working hours of adults, etc., and Chapter VIII regarding annual leave with wages of the Factories Act, 1948.

There is no provision for working 8 days continuously and having 2 days off on a regular basis. You need to regulate work in accordance with the Factories Act 1948 and the applicable Standing Orders.

As for leave rules, they will be the same as per company policy and within the parameters set by the Factories Act.

Regarding the weekly off, you can organize shift working timings by providing staggered offs to workers within the boundaries of the Factories Act/Rules.

Please create a roster and ensure employees receive a week off after working 48 hours in a week.
