I work with a US firm located in Manesar, Gurgaon, and my manager has filed an incorrect data integrity case against me. The case was filed on 21st May 2018, and nothing has been found to prove me guilty till now. I have met with HR several times for investigation in between. It's been more than 4 months now. Today, HR called me and provided a written complaint on the company letterhead, stating that it was informal until now and is now being formalized. HR took my laptop and mentioned that during the ongoing investigation, I will be on paid leave. I don't understand the distinction between a formal and informal inquiry. My question is, if the case was filed on 21st May, why am I receiving the legal complaint now? I need to respond and require assistance from someone with a legal background. Kindly help as I have to reply by 1st Oct 2018.
