Can My School Terminate Me While Pregnant? Understanding Maternity Rights and Contract Impacts

Urgent help is required

I am working in a private school as a teacher on a contractual basis since 3rd July 2017. A new contract letter was issued on 3rd July 2018, which states that I am on a service contract effective from 5th July 2018. I verbally informed my head on 4th July 2018 that I am pregnant and followed up with a message on 12th July 2018. I am currently 5 months pregnant and have been unwell since 16th September.

I informed the head of my school via email that I will not be able to attend school due to the same reason and reiterated this the following day through email. On 18th September, I received a termination email from the school. I would like to inquire, considering I have been working in the same organization since July 2017, if I am eligible for the following under the Maternity Act:

1) Can the school terminate my duties while I am pregnant?

2) Will the new contract affect the eligibility criteria of 80 days?

Termination after notification of pregnancy would not be in accordance with the law.

Secondly, the 80-day clause was attempted to be circumvented by providing a break of one or two days.

This can be challenged.
