New HR Manager in Apparel Factory: How Can I Boost Recruitment and Reduce Absenteeism?

adeshabu@yahoo.com
I am joining a company as an Assistant Manager HR, and now I need to handle a factory independently. I need to demonstrate my performance. I am seeking feedback from individuals familiar with the job role. I also want to know what actions I can take to enhance recruitment, reduce absenteeism and attrition, without impacting costs, and effectively manage the people in the factory. Please advise.

Key Areas to Focus On as an HR Manager

Please get well-versed with SOPs, staff, day-to-day issues, unions and their leaders, everything about deployed staff and their successors, labor contractors, labor requirements, processes, and machinery. Polish your knowledge about standing orders, the Factories Act, and the ID Act. Always keep track of various returns and compliance.

Believe me, absenteeism will be one of the major issues affecting production. Issuing warnings, show causes, and conducting inquiries will be a major part of your job. Payroll will be different for staff and workers.

Attrition in manufacturing doesn't majorly occur in workers, although marketing staff keep on switching.

All the best.
