Dear Anony,
As far as i know, only active subscribers of EPFO are eligible for EDLI benefits. As a pensioner, if there is no contribution made to your PF account, you are not eligible for EDLI benefits.

EDLI Scheme covers all employees irrespective whether they are working or retired. They should be member of the EPF, the insurance money based on the basic salary of an employee, coverage up to 6 lakh.

The following response is incorrect, EDLI only covers those who are actively employed at the time of death.
