Understanding Sandwich Leave Policy: How Does It Apply During Diwali Holidays?

I wanted to know about the sandwich leave policy. Suppose an employee is taking leaves on Mon and Tues, and Wed Thurs and Friday is off due to the Diwali holiday (Sat and Sun are off), and he resumes on Monday. Will the sandwich be applicable?

Secondly, if an employee has PL and wishes to apply for leave wherein sandwich leave is applicable, what will be the scenario? Will the sandwich be applicable, or will balanced leave be deducted with no sandwich applied?

There will be two cases:

1st: Sandwich will be applicable for being on leave on two consecutive weekends (Saturday-Sunday - before going on leave and after the Diwali holiday). Therefore, this should be considered a sandwich, and leaves will be deducted.

2nd: Having worked on Friday before the weekends off (preceding the leave), if the HR policy allows, the sandwich rule will not be applicable. In the sandwich rule, he can apply for leaves, but the approval is in the hands of HR and the manager.

Hi, I wanted to understand if there is a holiday on Tuesday and we have weekends off, i.e., Saturday and Sunday. If I apply for leave on Monday, will that be considered under the sandwich leave policy?

Leave Deduction Policy

If you have applied for casual leave on Monday and resume duty on Wednesday, then only one day of CL will be deducted. However, if you take PL/EL/AL on Monday and again on Wednesday, then Tuesday will be counted as part of the leave.

Consistency in Leave Policies

Leave policies need to be consistently applied to all employees, and clear guidelines must be in place as such situations arise frequently. Making frequent changes to decisions does not reflect a sound organizational policy or promote employee health.
