Employer Terminated Me Without Compensation – Is This Legal and What Can I Do?

Vasant Halatti
Dear sir,

If an employer terminates me without any compensation, what should I do? Is compensation mandatory? Kindly clarify this for me and my team.

Thank you.

If an employer terminates employees to reduce office staff, can the employees ask for compensation from the company or management?
Madhu.T.K
Such termination will be considered retrenchment within the meaning of the Industrial Disputes Act, and workers who are retrenched shall be entitled to compensation at the rate of 15 days' salary for every year of service. Additionally, one month's notice or payment of an additional one month's salary is required in lieu of such notice. In the case of managers who have subordinates reporting to them, no compensation or notice is necessary.

Dear Sir,

I want to ask you, if a company is terminating an employee by informing them that some fraud has been observed, but when the employee asks for proof, the company cannot provide it, what can the employee do? Will they receive their salary for that month? The duration of the employee's employment at that company was 2 years and 6 months.

Venkatesh
