Dear Cathy Jones,
Regarding notice on resignation, the duration of notice period or the rate of amount payable by the employee in lieu thereof would have been mentioned already in your appointment order or the contract of employment about which no mention in your post.
If the notice period is fixed as two months, whether you need any certificate of employment or experience or not, you have either to serve the entire notice period or to buy out it in part or full as the case be. Only then, you would be formally relieved on acceptance of your resignation. Alternatively, your employer can deduct the notice amount from your dues.

Please follow terms and conditions of appointment order.
Just because you dont need certificates/letters etc ,you cannot quit just like that.
Never quit an establishment in a manner that it becomes questionable or in angry circumstances.
