PF Deduction Rules - both employer and employee deduction from my salary?

ShivragShukla
I have two questions regarding PF Deduction.

1. My basic salary is 12,825/- Rs. I want to know what percentage of the amount should be deducted on it - 12% or 8.33%?

2. My company deducts both 12% Employee and 12% Employer PF contributions from me. They deduct 1539/- Rs (as Employee) and 1539/- Rs (as Employer), totaling 3078/- Rs from my account. Is that legal? Because I read everywhere that some money is deducted from the employee and some from the employer.

Please advise me.

The company has to deduct only the employee's share (12%) of the contribution from your salary. Deduction of the employer's share is patently illegal and violative of the EPF Act 1952.
