Confused About Bonus Calculation for Contract Laborers? Help Me Protect Government Funds

I am working in government service, and my department is outsourcing laborers on a daily basis through a contractor. We are hiring almost 125 laborers daily.

Tender Process and Wage Calculation

My question is, during the tender process, the contractor claimed the minimum wage at 448/- per day for each laborer, making the monthly payment for each laborer 11,648/-. Additionally, the contractor stated in the price bid that the rate of bonus should be 8.33% of the basic wage, which amounts to 970/-. However, he mistakenly wrote it as Rs. 946/-.

Clarification on Bonus Calculation

I have learned that the bonus rate should be 8.33% of the ceiling rate, which is 7,000/- at 583/- per month. It appears the contractor is overcharging the government. Could you please clarify whether the bonus should be calculated as 8.33% of the basic payment of the laborers or 8.33% of 7,000/-? I aim to protect government revenue.

Please provide me with the relevant rules supporting your suggestions.

In the scenario described, the correct method for calculating the bonus for contract laborers should be based on 8.33% of the basic wage, not 8.33% of the ceiling rate. According to labor laws and regulations, the bonus percentage is typically applied to the actual basic wage earned by the laborers. In this case, the contractor's error in stating the bonus amount as Rs. 946 instead of the correct calculation of Rs. 970 needs to be rectified to ensure compliance and fair compensation for the laborers. It is advisable to refer to the specific labor laws and bonus calculation guidelines applicable in Nagaur, India, to support your case and ensure accurate payment practices.
