Dear HR colleague,
For a fresher, to become blank about the HR role in manufacturing unit is dampening.
However, the bright spot is it is fertile land for you to sow good HR policies and practices as none exist today. You can contribute in following areas:
1. Build sound employee record and data .
2 Introduce proper recruitment process and procedure
3 Attendance marking system with its linkage with payroll.
4 Develop leave and holidays policy
5 Systematic wage and salary system considering wage laws and market rates
6 Performance measurement standard evaluation system
7 You need to understand people well first . For that you spend time with Supervisors/Managers and top bosses to understand difficulties they have in managing people and their expectations about work standards and behavior.
You also talk to workers to know their family background, education , skills , their difficulties etc and maintain lively contact with them.
Your interaction with people will provide you lot of inputs for people policies in critical areas.
The above are just few thoughts to start with some plan of action and as you move forward, many other ideas will unfold.
