Hello friends, I want to ask for an opinion about a sensitive topic. We recently asked a manager to leave the company due to improper conduct (an internal investigation revealed one-time financial impropriety). The person pleaded with our MD, hence the MD asked him to resign. We soon found out that the ex-manager has joined another company at an even higher position and salary. We have received a request for background verification. We are in a dilemma—should we mention the truth and potentially spoil someone's career, or tell a lie and save someone's career?
Please give your views on what we should do.
