Can You Withdraw PF from an Old UAN After a Job Transfer? Seeking Guidance

johnpalayathan
One person joined a private limited group of companies. He worked for 3 years in one plant and then was transferred to another plant within the same group of companies. In the first plant, he had one UAN account number. When he was transferred to the new plant, a new UAN number was generated for him. Currently, only the new UAN is being used for contributions, while the old one has stopped. After 3 months, the employee approached HR regarding the withdrawal of the previous plant's PF amount.

PF Settlement Query

My question is, is it possible to get a PF settlement as per the PF Act? Kindly provide me with the correct guidelines.

Dear Mr. John C,

May I know when it happened? I think that about three or four months ago, the PF (Provident Fund) made it mandatory to enter the Aadhaar card number while registering new employees. Therefore, there will not be a chance to create a new UAN (Universal Account Number) if your friend joined within the last three to four months.

On the other hand, if your friend joined before that, he cannot withdraw the amount unless the contribution is remitted to a UAN number mapped to the Aadhaar card.
