For an employee covered under ESI, if he dies in service, ESI gives the pension to the family or the lump sum compensation?

1. Sir, technically speaking no pension is paid by ESIC if the covered employee dies in service. The correct word of such pension is called "Dependent Benefit" i.e. DB.
2. Dependent Benefit is paid to dependents of deceased employee as defined in ESI Act, 1948 and that too only in case the covered employee dies as a result of employment injury / accident occurred and caused due to and in the course of employment.
3. You can see and download the literature on different benefits as admissible under under above Act from the website of ESIC.
