Please answer following query.
Office time : 9 am to 7pm.
Late mark : after 9.30 am.
Now, some employees come after 9.30 am and works upto 8 or 9 pm. Shall i deduct for late coming or cancel (ignore) their late coming?

Is it your Office timing or Factory timing. As near about 10 hrs the employees are working.
From the legal point of view, please at first correct your office timing then of course you can decide the fate of the rule breakers!! As in an establishment you are not suppose to extend the office timing beyond 8&1/2 hrs. including the lunch break.
Aside from the HR point of view, it is completely your discretion, but that too upon reasonable grounds.

Dear colleague,
Under either FA or Shops Act, working hours are 8 hours excluding lunch recess of half an hour.
You need to decide your office timings. But advise you to follow flexible working. Allow staff to come half an before or after the start of office and correspondingly leaving time keeping 8 hours working.
This arrangement works to mutual advantage. But still for those who habitually breach this, deduct pro -rata wages or leave. Frame fair rules for it.

Dear Gaurav,
Are you paying over time to workmen working beyond prescribed duty hour ?
What is the duration of your lunch time?
You can make deduction for late attendance, if you are paying OT for working beyond 8 hours.
Do you have Standing Orders or any policy ? Follow the guidance as per the document.
In absence of above, the management have to give a circular that "any attendance beyond the grace period shall be treated late attendance and propotionate deduction will be made from salary or to be considered absent if the late is over one hour.

Dear all ,
Please read "17 pm", instead of 7 pm.
Gaurav.

In that case, please after providing notice or issuing warning letter you can deduct salary to check the late coming. Apart for late going, it is the employee's duty to complete the work on time and come office on time!
