Working Hours as per The Bombay Shop and Establishment Act

Daily and weekly hours of work in shops and commercial establishments:

Subject to the provisions of this Act, no employee shall be required or allowed to work in any shop or commercial establishment for more than nine hours in any day and forty-eight hours in any week. Any employee may be required or allowed to work in a shop or commercial establishment for any period in excess of the limit fixed under sub-section (1), if such period does not exceed six hours in any week. On not more than six days in a year, which the State Government may fix by rules made in this behalf, for purposes of making accounts, stock-taking settlements, or other prescribed occasions, any employee may be required or allowed to work in a shop or commercial establishment in excess of the period fixed under sub-section (1), if such excess period does not exceed twenty-four hours.

I think you are referring to the earlier Act of 1948.

A new Act was passed in 2017 for shops and establishments where this provision is worded differently.

Leave with Pay and Payment of Wages

Every worker shall be allowed a weekly holiday with wages.

Every worker shall be entitled to eight days of casual leave with wages in every calendar year, which shall be credited to the worker's account on a quarterly basis. However, any unused casual leave shall lapse at the end of the year.

A worker who has worked for two hundred and forty days or more in an establishment during a calendar year shall be granted leave with wages in the subsequent calendar year. The number of days of leave shall be calculated at the rate of one day for every twenty days of work performed by the worker in the previous calendar year.

In addition to the above provisions, every worker employed for not less than three months in a year shall be allowed leave for a maximum of five days for every sixty days worked during the year, whether taken consecutively or otherwise.

For clarification on the number of paid leaves applicable under the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act 2017, further explanation regarding clauses 3 and 4 is required.
