Can I Legally Avoid Paying My Notice Period Fee After Resigning Due to Maternity Challenges?

Hi, my name is Evangelin. I have worked in a leading corporate company for 8 years. After maternity, I couldn't continue doing night shifts. My due date was on January 20, 2017. However, I gave birth to a premature baby on December 7, 2016, a month before the actual expected delivery date. I received 84 days of maternity leave with pay until March 3, 2017. I extended my maternity leave for the next 3 months without pay. However, I couldn't continue working night shifts as my baby did not adapt to formula milk. I resigned from my job on July 12th with a one-day notice period. Now, my company is forcing me to pay 64,000 as a notice period amount to get my relieving letter. Can I legally approach them to bypass this amount? My company has no crèche facility to feed my baby during shifts.

Please put up the terms of appointment order. What does it specify regarding the notice period pay? Whether you can legally escape payment depends on the terms of appointment and the magnanimity of the company on this issue.
