Hi All,

We are generating empty chemical bottles (glass and plastic). Please let us know how to dispose of them. We are looking for a recycler/incinerator in and around Bangalore.

Before dispensing the bottles, the bottles should be completely washed with a neutralizer for such chemicals and ensure that no hazardous chemicals are inside the bottles. Then dispose of the bottles.

Dear Ismail,

Please check the process and registration of your premises. If the premises are under the Factory Act, you will have to check for the Pollution Control Board's consent to operate and the waste categories generated from it.

Dear Ismail,

You have to follow Environment Protection rules and Plastic waste disposal rules duly set by Pollution control boards. If you are unable to dispose of it directly, then deal with it through a PCB registered vendor.

Dear All,

As per the new notification of HW Rule 2016, empty chemical bottles and plastic containers come under the 33.1 category of SCHEDULE I [See rule 3 (1) (17) (i)] List of processes generating hazardous wastes. Please review the notification for further clarification. Additionally, chemical-containing bottles and containers need to be neutralized and washed scientifically, and the effluent generated can be treated at the ETP.
