One of my friends is expecting and she has already exhausted her other leaves. Due to some complications she wants to take maternity leave 18 weeks prior to delivery. Is she eligible?
Under the Maternity Benefit Amendment Act 2017, this benefit could be availed by women for a period extending up to 8 weeks before the expected delivery date and remaining 18 weeks can be availed post childbirth.
No company can terminate an employee due to maternity. it is against the law.
