Workplace Injury: Should an Employee Be Paid if Hurt on the Job and Unable to Work?

shoebakbar
I would like to know if an IT employee, during office hours, falls on the floor and gets seriously hurt, resulting in being bedridden for a month due to a fracture and being unable to come to the office, will that employee be compensated for the loss of pay for that month since the accident occurred while the employee was in the office?

There is no specific statutory provision for compensation like EC or ESI (salary presumed to be more than the ceiling amount) which is applicable in such matters. However, the general law of the land (Specific Relief Act) would be attracted and needs to be examined based on the full facts.
