As per the Tamil Nadu Shops Act, every person employed in any establishment shall be entitled, after 12 months of continuous service, to 2 holidays with wages for a period of 12 days in the subsequent 12-month period; provided that such holidays with wages may be accumulated up to a maximum of 24 days.

Additionally, every person employed in any establishment shall be entitled, during their first 12 months of continuous service after the commencement of this Act and during every subsequent 12 months of such service, to:

- Leave with wages for a period not exceeding 12 days on the grounds of any sickness incurred or accident sustained by them
- Casual leave with wages for a period not exceeding 12 days on any reasonable ground

Though the accumulation of PL will start from day one, it gets credited only after completion of one year of service in the company/organization. So you can avail the PL only after one year under normal circumstances. It is usually 15 days for a year's service.
