Joined Mid-February: Can I Still Get Casual Leave for That Month?

Indu@HR
I have a doubt. I joined in the middle of February. Will I be eligible for casual leave for that month?

This depends on the rules of your organization. There are many organizations allowing full CL for the year for all those who joined before 30th June and 50% of it for those who joined any time thereafter. Please check the position.

Casual Leave will mostly be available to you in the next year. Most companies do not give you any leave in the first year of your work.

The leave rules of every establishment are different from one another. The total leave for which you will be eligible depends upon the nature of the establishment and the rules that have been adopted or framed.

You need to check with your HR department to find out what leave you are entitled to until you earn leave. Every establishment provides its staff with leave until they become eligible for any earned leave, which typically occurs at the close of the calendar year. At the present time, you may not be eligible for leave, but your HR department is the right place to seek guidance.

Indu,

You are confusing the forum. You did not join in the middle of February; you joined on the 21st of February and hardly worked for 8 days. How can you expect a casual leave for that month when you only worked 35% of the time? One should not be so greedy as to try to grab benefits from any organization.

You must be on probation now, and generally, no leave is given during the probation period.

Dear Indu,

What I understand from your query is that your company provides casual leave to people on probation, and you also have it. Your query pertains to the month in which you joined, as you joined in the middle of the month. Therefore, if you joined before or on the 15th of that month, you will get the leave for that month; otherwise, you won't. I have also seen some companies providing half casual leave and calculating it on a prorate basis.

Kind regards

As far as CL concerns, there is only one rule that they should not be more than 12. It completely depends on the leave policy in force.
