Confused About EPF Pension Transfer? Here's What to Do with Your Previous Pension

Dhanya Gowda
I have a confusion regarding EPF - Pension.

If an employee has worked for 10+ years in an organization and he is a pension holder now. He has withdrawn his PF amount, and EPF is moved to a pension scheme. Now he has started working in a new company, and a new PF account is opened.

My questions are:

What needs to be done for the pension from the previous organization?
Can he transfer his pension amount to the new PF account?
Can he be eligible for 2 pensions?

Kindly suggest.

Scheme Certificate for Pension Service

In order to get the pension service added to the present service or to consider the past service at the time he claims pension, he has to apply for a scheme certificate. A scheme certificate is a certificate issued by the EPF Organisation which certifies your membership with the Pension Fund. This certificate will also contain the names of the spouse and children who are eligible to receive a pension in case the employee dies before attaining the retirement age.

Upon joining a new establishment covered by EPF, you can surrender this certificate through the employer. This action will result in your past service being added to the present service. Alternatively, you can retain the scheme certificate and submit it to EPFO along with your pension claim application.
