Why Do Companies Like Tech Mahindra Offer a Standard 30% Salary Hike?

Hi, I recently joined Tech Mahindra Business Services. As usual, the HR offered me a 30% hike on my previous salary. Why is this so?

Many companies have their own wages and salary structure. So, the salary offered to you may be as per the salary structure of that establishment (parity in wages and salary), which stands 30% more than what you were getting from the previous establishment.

That varies from company to company. But as a standard, people expect the hike to be 30%. It's better to demand based on previous salary and experience.

The hike to any new aspirant depends on many factors, which management has to decide and finalize.

I feel a new company should take into consideration the normal salary increase in your previous organization, which was 20% in a year, with an additional 10% increase for your selection. This would make for a total increase of 30%, which is in line with industry norms. However, if you are more experienced and qualified, you may be able to negotiate for more, depending upon your bargaining capacity.
