Mandatory to submit death certificate for PF withdrawal by family?

I need to know whether it is mandatory to submit death certificate for PF withdrawal by family?

Of course, PF will ask for PF death certificate for member's family to claim the withdrawal benefits, by family members.
Hence, generally 3-4 original certificates are opted for from muncipality for such requirements by the family members.
