Understanding EPF: Can Employees Opt Out and Is There a Salary Threshold for Deductions?

@bittu
Is there any minimum salary limit for the deduction of EPF? Also, can any employee cancel their EPF voluntarily?

---

In most countries, there is a minimum salary threshold for EPF deductions. Employees below this threshold may not have EPF contributions deducted from their salaries. As for canceling EPF voluntarily, it is advisable for employees to check with their HR department or EPF authority for specific guidelines and procedures regarding voluntary cancellation of EPF contributions.

Hi there,

Yes, you need to follow minimum wages for EPF deduction. Secondly, EPF contributions made voluntarily cannot be canceled once deducted; you must continue the process. Both the employer and employee can restrict their share of contribution up to a maximum limit of Rs. 15,000.

Thank you.
