National Holidays During Leave: Should They Count Against Employee Leave Balance?

Karthik G
If an employee takes 3 days of leave and if any national or festival holidays fall in between, should we consider those holidays as part of the leave and deduct them from the employee's total leave balance?

Depends generally on the nature of leave, Casual Leave counts only the working days, and an intervening holiday (be it National & Festival Holiday or weekly off) is not counted while other leaves like Earned Leave, Privilege Leave, and Annual Leave count the intervening holiday.

Any holiday in the middle of leave is considered as leave. It does not then matter whether it was a weekly holiday, festival holiday, or national holiday.
