Overpaid EPF Contributions for Eight Months: How Can I Correct This Mistake?

HR_Jayesh Soni
Dear Seniors,

Please suggest, what is the remedy if for the last eight months I had paid the incorrect amount against EPF (a/c 2) as per 0.85% instead of 0.65% or a minimum of Rs. 500, and paid admin charges (a/c 22) as per 0.01% instead of NIL?

Regards,

Dear Mr. Jayesh Soni,

Please make your question specific. Have you made a short payment or excess payment? What remedy do you seek?
HR_Jayesh Soni
I have made excess payments towards a/c-22 and a short payment for a/c-2. Specifically, instead of paying a minimum of Rs. 500 towards a/c-2, I have paid Rs. 204. For admin charges (a/c-22), instead of not paying anything, I have paid Rs. 2 every month for the last eight months. Now I am confused as I am not from an HR background and was not aware until today when I read the thread https://www.citehr.com/580676-epf-ad...w-e-f-pg2.html. I was paying online as per the Excel sheet made by our HR person who left the job last February. Please help.

Dear Mr. Jayesh Soni,

EPF Contribution Details Effective from 01/04/2017

A/C #1 - EPF Employee Share: 12% on EPF Wages + Difference of Employer Share: 3.67% / Less EPS Contribution.

A/C #10 - EPS Employer Share: 8.33% on EPS Wages (Maximum up to Rs 15,000/-, i.e., Rs 1,250/-).

A/C #2 - EPF Admin Charges: 0.65% or Rs 500/-, whichever is higher, on EPF Wages.

A/C #21 - EDLI Contribution: 0.50% on EDLI / EPS Wages (Maximum Ceiling up to Rs 15,000/-). The PF Portal will calculate collectively once you upload ECR.

A/C #22 - EDLI Admin Charges: No sum is payable / Nil Contribution.

If you can upload your latest ECR data, corrections can be suggested. Further, there is no provision to pay for A/C #22 in the PF Portal.

Mr. Shrinath,

Thank you. However, my question remains unanswered: what must I do to pay the remaining amount against account 2? Instead of the minimum 500, I have paid 204 for the last eight months. Can you please provide guidance on this matter?

Thank you again.

Jayesh

Dear Mr. Jayesh Soni,

You can include the shortfall in the Dec-2017 Challan, or you can pay separately. Please do so under intimation to the PF Dept with a covering letter, providing details of the short payment and payment details.

Thank you.
