Need Help Closing My Old EPF Account for Final Settlement – What's the Procedure?

karthik2949
Dear Team,

Good evening, I need clarification regarding the final settlement of my EPF account.

Previous employer Joined date: 4-09-2013.
Previous employer date of leaving service: 26-09-2017.
Total of 4 years worked with the previous employer.

I have now joined another employer in October 2017, and a new PF account number has been created and linked with the old UAN number.

I now need to close my old EPF account and get final settlement. Please help me with the procedure.

Thank you.
Glidor
You cannot file a claim unless you reach 58+ or are unemployed for 60+ days. As your UAN is linked with your present employer, it is currently contributory, and a claim cannot be filed. You can opt for the transfer of the old company balance by physical or electronic transfer of the claim.

Dear Glidor,

Mr. Karthik has stated that both his first PF Account and present PF Account are linked to the same UAN. Since the UAN is the same, why does he have to file a "transfer claim"? Will not his old PF Account cease once the old employer exits him, and all his past and present contributions continue to accumulate under his UAN (because the UAN has not changed)?

If the employee still has to go through all this fund transfer process, what is the significance of UAN and the slogan "one employee, one UAN"?

Regards,
