Dear team, I have started a new software development firm and would like to know what applicable licenses need to be obtained for running the firm in Tamil Nadu. Additionally, could you please provide information on the time frames within which the licenses should be obtained? I am also in the process of hiring candidates for the following positions:

Hi Ahamed Ali, you need the following to be done as a part of the required clearance/registration from labor and employment aspects. It needs to be done from the very first day:

1) Obtain ESI registration from the ESI department if you are going to have 10 or more employees.
2) Obtain EPF registration from the EPF department if you are going to have 20 or more employees.
3) Register your firm under the Shops and Commercial Establishment Act and get a license from the Labor Department.
