Can I Withdraw My Full EPF Amount After Leaving My Job? Seeking Clarity on Rules

Shyam Prasad Mora
Hi all, I have some queries regarding EPF withdrawal. I left my previous organization 2 months ago and now I want to withdraw my PF amount. I see that there are 3 components in my passbook:

1. Employee Share
2. Employer Share
3. Pension Contribution

I want to withdraw the entire amount of all 3 components as I worked with the company for 19 months before starting my own business and not planning to work elsewhere.

Could someone kindly clarify the following questions for me?

1. I read online that Pension Contribution cannot be withdrawn if the duration is less than 10 years. Can you please elaborate and explain in my current scenario?

2. A friend mentioned that I cannot withdraw the Employer Share until my retirement age. Is this still applicable?

3. How can I withdraw the entire amount?

Thank you.

Pension Contribution Withdrawal

1. I read online that pension contributions cannot be withdrawn if the duration is less than 10 years. Can you please elaborate and explain this in my current scenario?

A: Pension contributions cannot be withdrawn if the duration is 10 years or more, not less than 10 years. Therefore, you can withdraw the amount from the PF.

Employer Share Withdrawal

2. One of my friends told me that I cannot withdraw the Employer Share until my retirement age. Is this still applicable?

A: No, that information is incorrect. You can withdraw the Employer Share.

Withdrawing the Entire Amount

3. How do I withdraw the entire amount?

A: You can visit your organization or PF office and fill out the composite claim form.

Withdrawal through online is possible after creating UAN on the portal independently. Now, there is no need for manual submission of forms and employer involvement.

To process your withdrawal request, please fill out Form No. 19 and Form No. 10_C. Attach a copy of your PAN Card, Aadhar Card, and a cancelled blank cheque from your bank account. Submit these documents to your employer for certification, after which they will forward them to the EPFO. Your funds will be credited to your bank account within two months.

Issues with UAN Portal for EPF Withdrawal

That is where things have been quite frustrating for me. I have tried to claim online via the UAN Portal. When I click on "CLAIM," I get an error that says, "Multiple member-IDs found linked to your UAN. Kindly transfer all to the current member-ID before proceeding."

I have logged in to the EPF Portal and submitted all my old member IDs to get them mapped to my current member ID. It's been over 2 months, and the status still shows "No Action Taken" in the "Action from field office" section.

Kindly lodge an online grievance on the EPFO portal. This will be sorted out immediately by them if the online grievance is lodged by the member.

As per the current update, if you are using the same UAN from your previous employment, the account balance will be transferred to your current establishment PF account automatically. You can try the online transfer process or seek help from the grievances cell.
