Struggling with HR Interviews: What Key Activities Should I Focus On to Succeed?

Ranjeetha.MP
Hi Seniors, recently, I attended an interview for the position of "HR Assistant." During the interview, the HR asked me about the HR activities I engage in. I mentioned payroll, recruitment, production details, documentation work, and updating legal records. However, the interviewer specifically inquired about HR activities and focused on performance appraisals. I explained that although I have studied performance appraisals, I haven't had practical experience with them within an organization. Unfortunately, I was not selected for that position.

Major HR Activities in Every Organization

1) What are the major HR activities that should be carried out in every organization?

Areas to Concentrate On

2) What areas should I concentrate on?

Thank you.

Dear Ranjeetha MP,

Please note that points such as production details and documentation work may be irrelevant when answering the interviewer.

HR activities in the core include attendance, leave policy, payroll, statutory deductions, recruitment, exit processes, performance management, employee database management, employee engagement, training and development, disciplinary matters, and statutory liaison, among others.

Thank you.
