Employee Code Dilemma: Should Branch Codes Start Fresh or Continue from Head Office?

Hello all, I am working as HR in a real estate company. I have to generate an employee code for my branch office. I am already having all employee codes at the head office, so I want to know whether I have to allot all the codes at the branch office starting from 1, 2, 3, and so on, or from the last code which I had given in the head office. Please help.

Ideally, as soon as an employee joins, he/she should be assigned an employee code, whether the employee has joined the corporate office or a branch office. The employee codes should be assigned in numerical order to facilitate statutory compliance and to ensure the smooth functioning of administration.

Thanks, Prashant. My confusion is whether I should start a new series in the Branch Office or continue the series that is currently ongoing in the Head Office.
