ESIC Maternity Leave: Which Daily Rate Applies if Leave Falls in the 2nd Benefit Period?

Divya priya
If a greater number of ESIC leaves fall in the 2nd benefit period, which daily rate will be considered for cash benefits?
harpreetwalia
Hi,

The maternity benefit rate is 100% of the average daily wages for the period of absence (on leave). The last drawn wages are considered for calculation as it is expected that the employee could have been earning the same if she hadn't taken the benefit of maternity.

But the confinement occurs in the first benefit period. Will that be a problem?
harpreetwalia
No, that won't be as the last contribution period would be taken into account for calculations.

Thank you so much for your reply. However, in the ESI office, they have provided the information like that. That's what I asked for clarification. Thanks again.

Can anyone also clarify how salary is calculated under ESIC for maternity benefit...
