Concerned About Leave Without Pay: Was My Team Leader Fair in Deducting My Incentives?

Respected all my seniors,

Concern about LWP Impact on Salary and Incentives

I just wanted to bring up my concern related to the impact of Leave Without Pay (LWP) on employee salary and incentives in the MNC. I was on leave for the Durga Puja celebration and was supposed to report on October 3, which was not possible due to my return flight being on the same day. I sent a message to my team leader explaining that I was not feeling mentally fit and that my flight was delayed.

However, my team leader responded by saying that I needed to report as soon as possible. The next day, they informed me that I would not be receiving the incentive and that LWP would be considered. When I received my salary, I noticed that my entire incentive was deducted, and one day's salary was marked as an LWP deduction.

I would appreciate your highly experienced suggestions on whether the team leader's actions were sensible, reasonable, or if they violated their power over the employee.

Dear friend,

Could you please expand the abbreviation "LWP" used in the post?

If I am not wrong, LWP stands for Leave Without Pay. It appears that you are in an MNC and probably you have taken leave, but the team leader has marked it as LWP. Consequently, you will not receive your incentive, which has been duly implemented.

LWP may be in accordance with the leave policy of the organization, and the incentive scheme is typically a defined scheme for any MNC. I would recommend discussing this matter with your superior to gain a better understanding of the leave rules and incentive scheme. If it seems that some action has been taken beyond the organization's policy, try to understand the reasons behind it; otherwise, you can reach out to the HR Department at your organization.
