How Do You Ask for a Higher Salary When You Have the Skills HR Wants?

koppunoor
Dear All,

Can you share a tip on how to get or ask for more salary from a company if we desire the exact skills that an HR is looking for? Should we ask in percentage, lakhs per annum, or should we state it based on the desired position? Are there any other strategies you recommend?

Thank you.

Dear,

If you are fully confident and 100% sure that they will hire you at any cost, please don't be emotional; be practical. Tell them straight away that you need a percentage hike in your current salary. You can also mention your cash perks such as mobile/conveyance and data card charges that you are already receiving from your current company, but please do not provide incorrect salary information.

Dear Anonymous,

Fixing pay in any organization depends on the candidate's profile, such as experience, qualifications, exposure, and overall track record. If you have performed well and feel confident about securing the job, you can quote a figure that is suitable for your job profile, experience, and exposure, whether in percentage or in lakhs. If you are not very confident, then it is advisable to adhere to the company's norms.

Thank you.
