BOCW Act Registration: Does a Painting Contractor Really Need It?

nrvyas
Dear All,

Does a painting contractor need to register under BOCW Act? Please advise.

All those engaged in construction and finishing until the completion of work for the first time, including painting contractors (who may be petty contractors), must be registered under BOCW. Thereafter, any rework, including painting, does not come under the BOCW Act.

Thank you, sir, for your reply. However, definition 2(d) of the BOCW Act does not cover painting contractors or work. Just for your information and further advice.

Dear Nrvyas,

It depends on whether the painting work is taking place at a construction site or outside of new construction. If it is as described above, then the contractor must be registered under BOCW.

Thank you.
