Rehired After Two Years: Should I Use the Same UAN or Mark as Exit for PF Payments?

Now, do I need to continue with the same UAN, or can I mark him as an exit employee, and then upload the details for the new employee to make the PF payment to his account.

Now PF remittance is based on UAN number from December 2016. The existing UAN can be utilized by linking it to your PF portal.

Hi Jeevan, it doesn't matter if the employee has worked somewhere or not; if the UAN number is active, it can be used for the submission of funds in the same account. However, the exit formalities need to be completed. Otherwise, if you rejoin the employee under the same employee code, what would you show for the 2-year gap? Later on, it can lead to industrial disputes if a systematic process is not followed.

My suggestion is to mark the employee's exit with a back date. Take him/her as a new joinee and contribute the funds to the same UAN account.
