Hi K Ramesh,
Our labour laws differs state wise as the state government is authorized by central laws to make provision as per local legislation and requirements regionally applicable. Take the example of "THE PUNJAB INDUSTRIAL ESTABLISHMENTS (NATIONAL AND FESTIVAL HOLIDAYS AND CASUAL AND SICK LEAVE) ACT 1965." Here is specifically describes for paid holidays three national holidays, 26th January for Republic Day, 15th August for Independence Day, and 2nd October for Gandhi Jayanti besides five festival holidays every year. It also provides for seven casual leaves and seven sick leaves in a calendar year.
The act is also applicable in Haryana state. Such provisions are commonly accepted wide industry throughout the country however not by any means of compulsory implementation. So 1 earned leave for 20 days as per factories act and 7 SL+7CL with around 8 regional holidays is a common practice applicable.
