ESIC Coverage Confusion: Is Pneumonia Really Excluded from Reimbursement?

Query: Are all diseases covered under ESIC? My father-in-law has been diagnosed with pneumonia with a chest infection. He was admitted to a private hospital for 1 week. Today, when we went to the ESIC office for reimbursement, they denied it by saying that ESIC doesn't provide reimbursement for pneumonia. I kindly request you to inform me about this.

If he is covered under ESIC, then why is he not admitted to an ESI-tied up hospital from day 1? Ideally, all the IPDs should be done in ESI-linked hospitals only.
